Closing of E-Motional in Cyprus

The E-Motional project will close in March in Cyprus where Dance House Lemesos will organise several residencies and performances for artists and managers from Latvia, Ireland and Romania.

Friday 29/03/13:

19:00 Fearghus Ó Conchúir at work with Olga Zitluhina.
Residency presentation of work in progress at Dance House Lemesos

We are in the very pleasant position to welcome again in Limassol the artists Fearghus Ó Conchúir (Ireland) and Olga Zithulina (Latvia) for a residency under the frame of the EU project E-Motional Bodies and Cities. The two artists will meet again from the 24th until the 29th of March in order to extent their research and develop their collaboration that was initiated through the artistic research program earlier on last November in Limassol.

20:30-21:30. ‘Realia’ by Farid Fairuz /Bucharest-Beirut.
Performance at Dance House Lemesos.

In Realia (Bucharest/Beirut) Farid Fairuz questions the frail limit between the real and the fictional, thus emphasizing a discourse based on the construction of multiple identities. His approach underlines the ability of today’s culture to impose the unreal and the fictional as realities, as components of a realm in which the line between the possible, the virtual and the real no longer function as they once did.

Saturday 30/03/13:

18:00 Marina Poyiadji at work with Virginia Negru
Residency presentation at Dance House Lemesos

We are also very pleased to host for an extension of a residency the Cypriot choreographer Marina Poyiadji under the frame of the E-Motional Bodies and Cities. Marina will work with the Romanian dancer Virginia Negru between the 18th and 30th of March and present their work in progress at the end of their reunion.
19:30-20:15 ‘What is Zeir?’ by Kristine Vismane /Latvia.
Performance at Dance House Lemesos.

A choreographer invites a set designer to be her teacher in movement. Two young, upcoming artists Kristīne Vismane and Rūdolfs Baltiņš met for the first time and created together a performance entitled “What is Zeir?” where they talk about dance and dance the dance.
21:00-21:15 ‘Match’ by Fearghus Ó Conchúir/Ireland.
Performance at Fitidio Athletic Center Limassol.

Match is a duet for two men created originally for a dance film set against the backdrop of Croke Park, Ireland’s iconic stadium of traditional Gaelic games. The story of the dance is one of contest, where, as in relationships, sport and battle, one emerges stronger and survives longer than the other.
