Gabriela Tudor Residency for Portuguese Artists

Gabriela Tudor Foundation in Bucharest in partnership with AGITLAB, Improvise and Organise Association and the City of Agueda, is launching the Gabriela Tudor Residency in Bucharest in the frame of COLAB project. The residency aims to support artistic creation for Portuguese artists in the field of performing and visual arts.

The residency is organised in connection the 10 years of anniversary of AGITLAB, will have a duration of 10 days, taking place in Bucharest  between October 1–11, 2026. The residency is open for max. two artists (or 1 artist+1 curator/ producer) or one project (with max. 2 participants) from performing arts (dance, performance, music) and visual arts (photography, new media).

Focus of the residency: 

The residency in Romania welcomes Portuguese dancers, musicians and/or visual artists, curators/ producers working on a new concept or collaborative project focusing on the body. Participants have to be based, originate in Agueda/Aveiro or be among previous AGITLab residents. Special attention will be given to participatory and community projects or projects designed for natural environment. Solo projects are also welcomed.

Number of projects: 2 projects (1 artist/project) or 1 project (two artists/curators/producers working together).

The COLAB residency covers: international travel to/from Agueda to Bucharest (plane+train ticket amounting to approx. 350 Euro), a perdiem of 300 Euro/artist, accommodation in private apartment in Bucharest city centre, a fee of 1000 Euro/artist (or 2000 Euro for two participants), working space (6-8 hours/daily in studio or natural environment). Plane tickets, perdiem and fees will be covered by AgitLab and the City of Agueda while the accommodation and working space will provided by GT Foundation.

The working space (6-8 hours daily) is secured at Eliad House, a heritage building with several spaces (studio room, performative space in the cellar, space with piano) currently administered by ARCUB – Cultural Centre of Bucharest Municipality. Additionally the artists can spend time and work in the National Văcărești Park, a natural environment inside the city. The organisers will accompany the residency by facilitating connections with the local community, mentoring and production support should these be needed for the development of the artistic project during the participants’s stay in Bucharest. The residency period will conclude with an informal presentation taking place on October 10 at 19:00. The selected Portuguese participants are responsible of their health insurance during the residency time. They should plan to arrive in Bucharest on October 1 and depart on October 11.
